General Notes
- Masks on if you are going into the house for 12 Days or Sussex Mummers; if you can’t get them on, then don’t go out!
- Masks off right before you go on stage; if you are standing backstage for more than a minute, you need to at least hold the mask over your mouth and nose.
- Diction more, more, more, crisp and clear!
- Vocal warmup I need everyone to be at warmup today, fully dressed and with makeup on. Please be on time and ready to sing.
- Soloists I forget to tell you how beautifully you are all singing. Keep up the great work!
- We are still working on stage monitors; we know that you can’t heard in the back (can you hear the band any better in Wayfaring Stranger?)
Big Set Dance
- We are still not in place after the 32-count intro.; can we be?
Wexford Carol
- Ensemble was better, keep listening and remember to rhythmically check in with the brass
- S/A “Babe / Sweet” (lower 2 parts even quarter notes)
- Ritard was much better at the end
Deck the Hall Bells
- Jill please get over to your place faster
- Ari, we had already replaced you with Max for Jill’s bells; so Ari (please come and talk to me), can we rely on you to get and deliver those bells today?
Kentucky Wassail
- Pete, when you are back, you will need to only play (don’t sing) this tune
New Britain / Promised Land
- Reminder – you are either watching Betsy or Andrea (and no one else)
- We are taking a steadier tempo; feel the downbeat and pronounce the words fully
- We lost ensemble again in either verse 2 or 3 of Promised Land
Amazing Grace
- Brass – can you play the introduction for Amazing Grace a bit more softly; with some crescendo toward the end of the intro.?
- Greg McG – great job taking over the brass; speak very clearly
Come Thou Fount
- This seemed better from where I stand; always be ready for that entrance!
- Hum a bit more softly please (not in the direction of the floor mics)
Lord of the Dance
- Brass – please play longer on the stage (wait until more people are out of the theater); Susan Lewis will help you know when to end it.
- Band – we need you to play Lord of the Dance (as the dancers come down into the lower lobby); you don’t need to start playing until you see and hear groups coming down the stairs.
- Chris Lewis, can you get your group down faster? Also, please call “last time”.
- Band – immediately play your non-LOD piece as soon as you finish LOD. Once the brass is present, you should give them the stage (in the lower lobby)
Wayfaring Stranger
- Important – no one can be on the back platform, please re-integrate into the group (there were 4 of you up there, please come down into the group)
- Wallace – please do not move once you are on stage, stay back and stationary
- On your underscoring sections, be more ahead of the beat (vs. behind it)
- Please more looking at each other on entrances
- Accent reminder – mm. 26, 28, 29
- Crescendo reminder – mm. 34-35 and mm. 37-39
- Look across the group, be with each other
Star in the East
- Apparently, this sounded mushy until the final refrain
- S/A – as you move forward for your refrain, please turn in (more choral arc); same for T/B (turn in)
- Brightest and best OF the SONS OF the morning
- More contrast between the A and B sections of the refrain
While By My Sheep
- Brass – thank you for the intro.; great timing on that
- Great job getting in place fast
Mummers Quartet
- Please come see me as a group (Jody, Elizabeth-Anne, Sean, Patrick)
Auld Lang Syne
- Brass – can we talk about a slightly shorter introduction?
Rorate
- Jennie – beautiful, as always; however, on verse 3, we need you to move back more into the chorus so we can balance you out more on the descant.
- Brass – can we talk briefly about the two-bar interlude prior to the final verse?
